Sherri's Addiction
Many years ago a regular reader of this blog tried to make me believe that Carmex is addictive. Studies were cited and claims about the ingredients were made. To these assertions I nodded my head and said "I know."

ReplyDeleteUH-HUH!!!
Dismissers, I command you to cease your dismissings. I've been a Chapstick addict for years! I gotsta have my Chapstk (correct abbreviation) when I go somewhere for an extended period of time, or I go insane! One time I forgot it when we were at the Gateway, so I went into some kind of fancy poopy Body Store to get some and was forced to buy their freaking EIGHT DOLLAR lip goo. I was so appalled to pay that much when I already had 20 at home, but pay I did. My lips were going through serious withdrawal.
ReplyDeleteI've never done Carmex, though. Sherri, should we get together and have a wild, uninhibited night of free-base Carmex and Chapstick application? Dulce mamacita.
Maybe we should get the Myth Busters involved. They could could get busy on this like crazy. Nothings too outrageous for Buster.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Carmex is also an excellent anal fissure ointment? You would if you read Paul's blog.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's addicting down there, too. Try it, Joel.
Nan, I love "myth busters"!
ReplyDeleteMandi, I too have the lip ointment addiction, to the point that my lips are feeling dry and I convince myself that I am getting extremely thirsty (I know, kind of weird).
carmex would not be my ointment of choice but I can use it if it is the only thing there.
I can pretty much use any kind of lip balm, lip gloss or even lotion to briefly hold me over.
I have even used butter (quite tasty) in a time of desperation.
so... to all you naysayers; the addiction is real, maybe not to carmex but real none the less.
Mandi, I say we throw caution to the wind and do it! Not the anal fissure part though. Paul and Joel can get together for that one.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I wasn't addicted to Carmex. But my current love is Burt's Bee's!
ReplyDeleteI AM GUESSING THAT THE CARMEX WAS A MUST BACK IN THE DAY ROM ALL THE UBBER KISSES!!!!
ReplyDelete"i like lip balm tons"=addiction
ReplyDeletelip balm addiction = real.
It's about time you got back in this debate, Joel.
ReplyDeleteWill Merriam-Webster clear things up for you? Let's just stick to facts.
Main Entry: ad·dic·tion
Pronunciation: \ə-ˈdik-shən, a-\
Function: noun
Date: 1599
1: the quality or state of being addicted (addiction to reading)
2: compulsive need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, alcohol, or lip balm) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal ; broadly : persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be harmful, such as buying $8 lip balm, when that is clearly an outrageous price.
Me quedo corregido.
ReplyDeleteMandi, you are addicted to brains.
